Hexing Station: A Romantic Love Story and Nostalgic Railway Journey

Sightseeing

Hexing Station, located in Hengshan Township, Hsinchu County, is not only a transportation hub but also a scenic spot full of romantic stories. It was once famous for a love story between a couple and is known as the "Love Station." The station retains its rustic Japanese-style wooden architecture, as if taking you back to a pure era.

Hexing Station was built on December 27, 1950, originally named "Shifenliao." It was renamed "Hexing" after the Pingxi Line also had a station with the same name. It was once the station with the largest freight volume on the Neiwan Line, mainly responsible for transporting limestone mined by Taiwan Cement Corporation in the nearby mountains. It is also the only wooden station on the Neiwan Line. The station originally had multiple tracks and aerial cable car equipment for transporting materials. As transportation tasks decreased, it was downgraded to a simple station in 2000, then converted to a request stop, and faced the fate of being abandoned.

Fortunately, it was preserved due to a romantic love story of a couple. Legend has it that the husband ran hard to catch up with the woman he admired on the train, which eventually led to their beautiful marriage. This touching story moved Taiwan Railways, and later a couple adopted and revitalized the station, transforming it into a park themed on "love," hence earning the reputation of "Love Railway Station." In 2016, Hexing Station became a sister station with Hokkaido Happiness Station in Japan, adding an international flavor.

Today, Hexing Station has become a popular tourist attraction and a place full of love and memories. Whether you are a couple, a family, or a railway enthusiast, you can find your own inspiration here.
