Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf: A Perfect Blend of History, Tourism, Cuisine, and Leisure
Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf, located in Tamsui District, New Taipei City, is not only an important fishing port in northern Taiwan but also a popular attraction that combines tourism, cuisine, and leisure activities. With a rich historical background, charming natural scenery, and a variety of amusement facilities, it attracts countless tourists to experience.

The history of Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf dates back to the Japanese colonial period when it was just a small fishing port. The site of the wharf was formerly known as "Shih-hu Cape," an area where Tamsui's early inhabitants used stone tidal weirs to catch fish. During the Japanese colonial period, the Tamsui Wireless Telegraph Station was established here, which was also the landing point for Taiwan's first international telegraph line. Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf was originally named "Tamsui Second Fishing Port" and was built to replace the old Hobe Fishing Port. Construction began in 1978 and was completed in 1987, with a land area of approximately 15 hectares and a water area of approximately 11 hectares. It was initially built for shelter and the development of coastal fisheries, and it has been transformed into a multifunctional port that combines fishery production and tourism and leisure, becoming a tourist landmark.

The most famous landmark of Fisherman's Wharf is the white Lover's Bridge, which spans 165 meters across the port area. The design inspiration comes from a sailboat. It was officially opened on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2003. This bridge is not only beautifully shaped but also allows you to feel the sea breeze, and it presents stunning color changes at sunset, attracting countless couples to come on dates, becoming a romantic symbol and a photography hotspot. (It is recommended to go in the evening to admire the beautiful sunset views)

Inside the park, there is a wooden boardwalk over 330 meters long, with two floors, which is a great place for tourists to stroll, enjoy a distant view of Guanyin Mountain, and admire the scenery and sunset of the Tamsui River estuary. Feel the leisurely atmosphere. At the tourist fish market and coffee street, you can stroll along the harbor and admire the harbor scenery.

And when you come to Fisherman's Wharf, you must not miss the fresh seafood cuisine. There are various seafood restaurants lining the wharf, offering all kinds of seafood dishes, from fresh sashimi and stir-fried seafood to delicious seafood porridge. In addition, there are many snack vendors along the wharf, selling all kinds of Taiwanese specialties. While admiring the beautiful scenery, you can also enjoy the fun of food.

In addition to the food, Fisherman's Wharf also offers a variety of recreational options. The "Lover's Tower" observation facility, the "Slippery Hat Game Field" children's playground, and the "Fullon Hotel Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf" provide accommodation and banquet services. You can also rent a bicycle and ride along the coastline, enjoying the beautiful sea view. Or you can take a yacht out to sea and experience the sea scenery. In addition, there are many street performers along the wharf, and you can feel the artistic atmosphere while taking a leisurely stroll.
