Bagua Mountain Scenic Area: Giant Buddha, Skywalk, and History

Changhua City, Changhua County
Sightseeing
Speaking of Changhua landmarks, the Giant Buddha of Changhua is definitely the one. Bagua Mountain Scenic Area is located in Changhua City, Changhua County, and belongs to the Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area, with a scenic area of approximately 22,000 hectares.

The solemn archway is connected to a long walkway called the "Pilgrimage Path". There are 32 stone-carved Guanyin statues on both sides, each with a different shape, some peculiar and some strange, just like telling the ever-changing power of Buddhism.
The name Bagua Mountain began to appear in documents after the "Lin Shuangwen Incident" in the 51st year of Qianlong (1786 AD). There are various theories about the origin of the name.

Walking up along the walkway, there are some small stalls.

The "Giant Buddha Temple" is located directly behind the Giant Buddha statue. The Dacheng Hall on the first floor enshrines Confucius, the Enzhu Hall on the second floor enshrines Guan Shengdi, and the Daxiong Hall on the third floor enshrines Sakyamuni Buddha.

The Giant Buddha was built in 1961 and is 72 Taiwan feet (approximately 22 meters) high. There are entrances and exits on both sides of the lotus seat, allowing visitors to enter and visit (free of charge). The Buddhist hall on the first floor is always filled with incense, and many believers come to worship every day. There are stairs on both sides of the Buddhist hall leading to the upper floors to see the stories of the Buddha, starting from the birth of the Buddha. Each floor has a story, with a total of 5 floors.

Bagua Mountain is not high, about 97 meters above sea level, with excellent views. It is located in a strategic military position in central Taiwan and has held a special status since ancient times.

Bagua Mountain Skywalk
The Changhua County Government built the Bagua Mountain Skywalk to connect existing tourism resources. The skywalk connects tourist attractions in the north-south direction in the form of points, lines, and surfaces, expanding the tourism scope of the Bagua Mountain Giant Buddha Scenic Area.

The skywalk from Bagua Mountain Giant Buddha Scenic Area to the Living Arts Center is approximately 1000 meters long and is composed of light steel frames. The maximum height reaches 16 meters. Along the way, it passes through attractions such as the Lotus Ecological Area, the Martyrs' Shrine, and the baseball field. Not only can you admire historical sites and ecology, but you can also experience the fun of walking in the forest. It is the longest skywalk in Taiwan.

The walkway offers a panoramic view of Changhua City, coupled with the sunset at dusk, offering beautiful scenery.
