Memory's Warmth: Reliving the Past at a Popular Japanese Set Meal Restaurant

Memory's Warmth: Reliving the Past at a Popular Japanese Set Meal Restaurant

Beitou Dist., Taipei City

Gourmet

This is a popular small set meal restaurant filled with retro and warm vibes from the inside out.

Seeing the storefront and signage makes you want to rush inside and take a look.

Stepping inside gives you a sense of familiarity.

To the left of the entrance is a semi-open kitchen behind the bar. Despite this, you can rest assured about the issue of cooking fumes.

Whenever I come to a retro shop like this, I feel like I'm on a treasure hunt, hoping to discover childhood memories.

Because it's a small shop, there aren't many seats. The restaurant has canceled phone reservations. Currently, you need to queue on-site. After arriving, inform the staff of the number of people and your name, and wait outside until they call your name. If it's your turn and you're not present, you'll have to re-queue.

After deciding on your order, simply tell the staff at the bar. Pay the bill after finishing your meal.

The set meals are exquisitely prepared, with the perfect level of saltiness, and the flavors are well infused into the ingredients. It's delicious and affordable.

Miso Braised Pork
Chicken Leg Stuffed with Jade

This set is highly recommended. It goes very well with rice, and the chicken leg is also very flavorful, tasting like smoked chicken. It's not dry at all, and the seared cheese slice on top complements the overall taste and sauce. Girls don't have to worry about eating inelegantly because the restaurant thoughtfully uses boneless chicken legs.

Chicken and Mushroom Casserole

The side dishes are also not just perfunctory. This soft-boiled egg paired with the prepared sauce inside is something you can completely "drink" in one gulp—very refreshing. If you need a hard-boiled egg, please inform the waiter when ordering.

Tofu and Chikuwa Roll

Basically, the side dishes, paired with their respective sauces, are all refreshing. You don't have to worry about them being too heavy, and they are all very delicious.

Plus, this kelp and egg drop soup is full of kelp. It's not a joke—it's super satisfying.
